Eligibility:


FACES strives to ensure the success of our teachers, which is why we have specific criteria for eligibility. To be considered to teach in the United States with FACES, you should meet the following requirements:


Proficient in spoken and written English.

  • Hold a university degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree, relevant to the subject you want to teach.

  • The degree must have a teaching component, including courses in pedagogy, methods of teaching, and teaching internship.

  • At least two years of classroom teaching experience since receiving your undergraduate degree.

  • A valid driver's license and one year of driving experience.

  • Official good conduct certificate from the local police department.

  • General good health.

What to Expect:


Your responsibilities as a teacher in the United States may vary from your experience in your home country, but FACES ensures you're well-prepared.


1. Teaching Duties:

Your daily tasks will include following state and local curriculum, assessing student progress, maintaining grade records, and communicating with parents. FACES will provide guidance and support as you adapt to these responsibilities.


2. Schedule:

You will sign a 12-month contract, with most schools in South Carolina operating from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Teachers work 200 days a year, with a summer break and two weeks off during Christmas. Contracts can be renewed for subsequent years.


General Summary of Fees:


While there are no application fees for the FACES Exchange Visitor Program, there are certain expenses to consider when teaching with FACES. These include costs for course evaluation, obtaining a police clearance, and the application fee for a Visa. FACES covers the SEVIS fee. Living expenses may vary depending on lifestyle choices.
