JUST IN: THE IRCC HAS ANNOUNCED THE LAUNCH OF CATEGORY-BASED DRAWS FOR EXPRESS ENTRY

Recently, Canada announced the introduction of category-based selection for Express Entry, marking a significant change in the immigration process. This new approach will allow the Canadian government to issue invitations to apply (ITAs) to prospective applicants who possess specific skills, training, or language abilities. The aim is to prioritize individuals with the most in-demand skills and qualifications for permanent residence.

In the current year, the focus will be on Express Entry candidates who exhibit a strong proficiency in the French language or have experience in one of the following fields:

  1. Healthcare

  2. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions

  3. Trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors

  4. Transport

  5. Agriculture and agri-food

To be eligible for these categories, applicants must demonstrate a minimum of 6 months of work experience in a qualifying occupation within the last 3 years.

It is important to note that alongside category-based draws, the IRCC will continue to conduct all-program draws and program-specific draws as required.

The application process for Express Entry involves two steps. Firstly, applicants need to submit their profiles along with the required documents, such as language test results, educational credentials, and passport or travel documentation.

Once a candidate's profile is accepted, they may receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence. In the second step, the applicant submits a complete application to the IRCC for review. This comprehensive application should include supporting documents like reference letters, additional identity documents, police clearance certificates, and results of a medical examination.

By understanding and following the Express Entry process, candidates can increase their chances of becoming permanent residents in Canada and contribute to the country's diverse and skilled workforce.
